Created by Courtney Lockhart. Courtney’s work is predominately non-objective abstract sculpture. Through her work she introspectively explores the themes of movement and growth. Without being a direct representation of the natural world, her work emulates the unique movements and undulations that can be found in the air, water, and earth. With a focused emphasis on movement both in positive and negative space, she forms each piece utilizing hand-building coil and slab techniques shaping the clay in an intuitive manner. Her process is also symbolic of life and introspectively represents the development of identity. The ups, downs, and inversions of life create a rich, complex, and dynamic experience. These experiences cultivate growth; an ethereal space devoted to shaping, defining, and understanding one’s divine identity.
